Advanced Rider Associate (ARA) Day

Advanced Rider Associate (ARA) Day – Associates and Full Members

The objective of this day’s riding is for you to ride six 30-40 minute segments, aiming to ride at your best standard, either following a tutor or in front of a tutor. Over the course of the day you’ll get feedback from 2-3 different tutors, with each giving you feedback on ‘just one thing’ to help you get closer to the test standard. This is an intense day intended to really help push on your riding standard. You’ll do over 170 miles of riding so please check with your tutor as to whether they think this is a course for you.

Please arrive by 9am with a full tank of fuel and a high viz vest. The briefing will start at 9am and we will leave at 9.30am, aiming to be finished around 4.30pm but no later than 5pm. Over the course of the day we’ll stop for brunch and afternoon tea/coffee, but if it is warm please put in a spare bottle of water.

  • Illness: You should check for any symptoms or illnesses that might affect your physical ability to control the machine or react to hazards.
  • Medication: Assess whether you are taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications—such as antihistamines for hay fever—that might cause drowsiness or otherwise impair your physical performance.
  • Sleep: You must evaluate if you are suffering from fatigue or a lack of sleep, as tiredness significantly reduces alertness and slows reaction times.
  • Alcohol: Determine if your system is still affected by any residual alcohol from previous consumption.
  • Food: Check for hunger or thirst; low blood sugar or dehydration can negatively impact your concentration and judgement.
